This is education, not advice

The information here is written for the general reader and does not replace a personal consultation. It cannot tell you whether your face has descended or lost volume, or which of the two treatments that would call for.

No outcome is guaranteed

No treatment can be guaranteed. How much a face changes, how long the change holds and how the area settles afterwards vary between individuals, and a result is judged honestly only after the tissue has settled.

Both treatments are temporary

Filler is broken down by the body over months and threads are absorbed over months. Both are repeated, and neither stops the process that produced the finding, so ageing continues in the tissue that remains.

The risks are real for both

Threads can produce dimpling, visibility, asymmetry and bunching, and can become infected, extrude or break. Filler can produce lumps, irregularity and delayed reactions, and rarely a vascular occlusion, which is a medical emergency. Both require a clinician able to recognise and treat what goes wrong.
